After a 10 day stretch of work, Brian had four days off last weekend. We took the opportunity to take a mini vacation at the cabin. Believe it or not, before last weekend, we had only spent one night out there!
It was a wonderful getaway! Since there is no TV or internet distractions, we spent time reading, gardening, working on projects, boating, napping, and sitting around the campfire.
We ate most of our meals on the patio and enjoyed the warm, spring weather...no heavy wind and no bugs!
We took Maya on her first boat ride and saw some turtles sunning themselves on a log.
I went through all of my CDs and picked out a bunch to sell at a garage sale this summer. Maya helped "organize" Brian's CDs :)
We also enjoyed using our newest addition to the cabin...this kitchen island. I wanted one for the cabin and was planning ways Brian could build one since they are so expensive. Even building one was pricey, though. Brian stopped by a garage sale on Thursday afternoon and called to say that he found an island. It was marked at $75 or best offer. I told him to offer $50 and go up to $60. He offered $45 and got it for $50! What a steal! It is basically brand new, with a granite counter top and great storage. The colors are perfect for the kitchen. Just what I wanted! Doesn't it look great?!

What perfect weather it was for a weekend getaway. I think I'd like Maya to come help organize my(quite literally) hundreds of CD's. Funny thing, just last night I was wondering if I could downsize some of them. Great kitchen island! We know about building them. Wish we could have found one for 50 bucks. Woulda been a lot cheaper and a lot less headache.
Wow. That kitchen island is a great bargain! It's perfect for your kitchen size, and pretty, too.
Maya is so cute, sorting cd.s (katesma)
LOVE the island -- I want one of those someday too. And Maya is SO CUTE in her little life jacket!! :)
Great find! And you didn't have to take time to build it. Jill
