It was fun to have Brian's family, most of our small group, and tons of Gustavus students at church to share in Maya's dedication. I guess, now that I think about it, I had some family there too...my mom's cousin's daughter (and family...they are members at Two Rivers) and my cousin's daughter (who is a sophomore at Gustavus and came with all the college kids). Anyway, there was a short blessing ceremony for her. Our pastor, Brian, explained the concept of a dedication ceremony, we shared a couple of Bible verses we picked out for Maya, and then pastor Brian prayed for us all.
As for the party, everyone came back to Sohre for lunch, gifts and cake. This was Maya's first real time opening gifts and she did pretty well. Luckily, she had a lot of helpers!
