On the day Kate was induced....

We had enough going on for us already Thursday the 1st of September. I left work for what was supposed to be an hour or so. Since little miss Maya was not cooperating, Kate had to eat some lunch and come back for more testing. I decided to go along and then return to work after lunch. When we were leaving, I had backed out of our parking spot and stopped. I was just about to shift into first gear when out of the corner of my eye a great green mass appeared. I remember trying to move away from the impact and tried to hit the horn, but it was too late. The young man in a big truck just didn't see us. And in young man fashion was probably backing out a little faster than necessary.
You can see in this first picture that is was pretty isolated to the rear driver door. The corner of his bumper is all that hit us. After we made sure everyone was okay, we made the decision to move out of the main though way of the parking lot. When I got back in the car to move into our parking space, I said to Kate "That was cool!". It really was. If you are going to get crunched and have a close up view of an accident, that was the way to do it. I suppose (minus the flying glass) that is a lot like what demolition derby drivers experience. We are sure glad that Maya was not in the car seat back there. We would have been carefully extracting her and removing glass parts for a while.

The door didn't open anymore. This morning it is being removed and repaired. We were lucky to have finished the garage so we had a place to store the open car for a few days. As you know, I never did get back to work Thursday. I shuttled Kate to her next appointment and from there we progressed to induction and Maya being born 12 hours later!
The accident really had nothing to do with Kate's induction. It just adds to an already great birth story for Maya Jayne.
