In the beginning of today I'd never thought I'd be where I am now.
At Kate's last baby check it was a mild concern that she didn't measure quite big enough. Today at 9 30 was her scheduled ultrasound to take some measurements. The baby was very quiet and we did find out that the fluid level in the womb is a little low, but not too scary. The baby was a little too quite though, so they sent us from the ultrasound building over to the clinic where Kate was monitored (and baby) for 20 min. They tried juice and "roughing" the baby up, but she still was very quite, but good heartbeat. After talking to the Doc, we were scheduled for another ultrasound after we went to have lunch.
Backing up a little. I left work to attend the ultrasound with Kate, expecting to be back to work at 10 30 or so.
We had lunch and rested a little. As we were pulling out of our parking spot I was stopped and about to accelerate forward when out of the corner of my eye was a rear bumper of an F 150 TRUCK!! We are fine, but Kate's car is not. The unfortunate driver of the truck didn't see us and slammed the rear driver door hard enough that it will never open again and broke out the glass, giving me a nice little shower. Poor kid, you should have seen how bad he felt when Kate got out of the car and he could see she was pregnant. Everyone is fine and we stayed calm, even Kate and baby. So we drove Kate's car to the newly finished garage for the weekend and came back to town for the ultrasound.
The baby was still was quite for the ultrasound and so they sent us back to do another monitor of Kate and baby. This time they sent us not to the clinic, but to 5th floor of ISJ. After two hours of monitoring and a bunch of medical chit chat, the Doc recommended that we induce. Everything looks good, it's more of a precaution than anything.
As they started to induce, I buzzed home and got our pre-arranged gear for childbirth and labor.
How strange and scary and wonderful. Wow. It seemed to take forever to get back to the hospital. Now here we sit, 7pm CST... Kate is having some contractions and according to the computer gadgets, she should be having more pain, but Kate thinks it's not too bad.
IMPORTANT!! We will let you know when we are taking visitors! Don't show up, because the waiting room is not comfy and our cabin is already booked with other guests.
There is no room at the inn.
