The harvest

The garden has been producing quite a bit this summer.  Maya enjoys picking peas and eating them while we're in the garden.  She really only nibbles a few bites out of each one and then tosses it aside, but it keeps her occupied while we are busy harvesting or weeding.

 

Maya also enjoys picking tomatoes, but she just ends up squishing them. Luckily, there are plenty of tomatoes to go around; I blanched and froze about 17 cups of them the other night.  I've also frozen green and yellow beans and corn.  I'm making good use of the hand-me-down chest freezer from Grandpa Bob and Grandma Jayne.  Don't worry, though, I'm saving plenty of room in the freezer for ice cream :)

I also made a bunch of strawberry freezer jam.  This was Maya's contribution to the process :) 

The flowers at the cabin are pretty nice this summer, too!
