We signed some papers today...making an offer on a house! The offer has already been accepted by the seller and so if the bank comes through with the loan, we will be the proud owners of two acres and a small (1100 sq ft.) house on the shore of Lake Emily, just outside of St. Peter. We're guardedly excited since we know the banks are more finicky these days. The place is a project, for sure. It's a fairly new house (built two years ago) that still needs some finishing touches (trim, bathroom tile, a driveway, etc.). The land has never really been landscaped (other than a tornado that came through three years ago), so that's another project.
Our plan, if we get it, is to work slowly on it for the next two or three years while we continue living on campus. Though it isn't much of a looker right now, we see so much potential in it and are really excited for the opportunity to create just what we want out of it. Here is a view of the front of the house. It's built into the hillside. Eventually, this will be the basement level and we will build a second story.

It might not be the prettiest house, but you can't beat the view! (the white shed to the left of the house isn't staying. We'd put the garage there.)

Please keep us in your prayers as we move through this process!

I love the house. I think it has wonderful potential, also.

Oh my gosh! You are so right about the view. When we want to go "up to the Shore" we'll just come to St. Peter!! I hope the right papers come through!
Can't wait to see this in person. I'll channel all my positive energy your way.
It looks like a nice cabin from the outside and a very beautiful setting. I hope you get it. I'd love to help with anything I can in making improvements. Jill
